 Theory 

Apologies if posted but have been thinking about that night. 

On the morning Jay photographed himself wearing some kind of throw, with what appears to be the ‘wrong’ shoes (black boots), it got us thinking.

The backstory as I understand it is that Jay was staying at one hotel and Lucy was staying at another hotel. Everyone went to the rave. Lucy went back with a guy and left Jay and didn’t see him again.

So how is Jay wearing Lucy’s bedthrow from her hotel bed? And why? He was semi naked after the rave (in the nightclub) so it’s doubtful he would have turned up to a nightclub with someone else’s bed throw. 

There is a video floating around about an argument on the beach and let’s suppose this is true. Let’s also assume for a moment that Jay is wounded.

Where do you go?

It appears Lucy’s hotel is very close to the beach and Jay’s hotel is a 19 minute walk. In an emergency, you’d go to the nearest place?

Could he have gone back with Lucy to her hotel (Pension Playa)? If there was blood involved, he could have grabbed the bedthrow (as the easiest cloth material) to wrap himself in it before being bundled in the two men’s car for his own safety. 

Why?

Wildly, Lucy is friends with Tom, who was attacked with a machete. Tom was very quick to distance himself in the early days, publicly posting that he hopes Jay is found. Far be it from me to point out that if someone came for me with a machete, wishing them well would be the last thing. 

So did Lucy set up Jay? What would be the eye for an eye punishment?

Did it get out of hand and Lucy panicked and asked her friends staying an hour away to take him to safety?

Was the injury covered up (in case there was blood found in Masca) as being a cactus injury. After all, Jay allegedly told Brad that injury occurred closer to the B&B, which is doubtful. 

On the morning in question, did drugs make Jay paranoid that people were after him. Rather than wait 2 hours, he would rather get moving quickly, even if it’s an 11 hour walk. This makes no sense. 

Jay seemed to get off the road and into the terrain after the lady saw him in her car because there were no witnesses that saw him either before or after. Did she drive slowly past him, wondering where he was going without him seeing her at the wheel and he thought someone was out looking for him? Did the paranoia force him to leave the road and end up in the middle of the scrubland by the time he called Lucy?

Did he tell Lucy that he thought people were after him and she couldn’t tell the truth to the police?

How do you get help for Jay who is fearful someone is after him? Do you tell them the truth and face retribution when you may have been involved or do you make out Jay has 1% battery, no food, water and is lost? These are all deliberate ‘danger’ words, designed to create urgency. Could Jay have told Lucy he thought someone was following him (lady in the car) and so she reported him missing “too early”. Bear in mind Michael Moseley wasn’t reported missing for 6 hours after he vanished. And that’s another point, Michael died only a week or so before, were they copying that event?

Reporting him missing should ensure a police response and flooding the area with police in her mind could deter anyone Jay thought was in the area looking for him. 

If a mate called to say they were without phone, water etc and was lost, you’d say to them to stay where they are and you’ll come in a taxi. Especially if the situation was as urgent that led to Lucy declaring a missing person (filing reports at more than 1 police station).

The fact the family search has been pretty poor by most standards, refusal to speak to media properly, immediate GFM set up by Lucy… I’ve generally felt those closest know there is more to this story. Had my child gone missing, I would be there every day and highlighting my plight more than Kate Garraway did with Derek. 

Maybe Lucy doesn’t know what happened next. Did Jay really end up lost whilst trying to avoid the roads or did someone catch up with him? Did Jay lose too much blood and combined with alcohol and drugs, he accidentally fell. 

Lucy went home, Brad’s mum started a group to control the narrative. Brad waits 12 days to reveal snapchats….

Something doesn’t quite fit, but this theory exonerates the two men, who the police believe to be innocent. Maybe they were protecting Jay at Lucy’s request after regretting setting him up.
