Dylan O’Brien’s latest film, Twinless, directed by James Sweeney, who also stars in the movie, has reportedly been removed from Sundance Film Festival’s online platform after clips and GIFs of its intimate scenes started circulating online. 

The film, which won the Audience Award at Sundance, was expected to be a major highlight of the festival, which runs from January 23 to February 2.

A Reddit user first reported the film’s disappearance, writing, “Movies off my schedule and when I click the link from my email it just leads me to the general overview.” Many festivalgoers expressed frustration, blaming individuals who illegally recorded and shared scenes from the film on social media.

The leak, which quickly spread across platforms like X, may have impacted ongoing acquisition negotiations. Another Reddit user lamented, “Having images of the Audience Award winner leak is devastating, especially in the middle of likely acquisition negotiations.” Others fear that this incident could mark the end of Sundance’s online component.

Eventive, the platform hosting Sundance’s virtual screenings, has been criticized for its response. “If Eventive is so good at fraud prevention, then they should target the individuals responsible. How is removing tickets and screenings even remotely the correct way to handle this?” one user questioned.

Despite the setback, Twinless is expected to be acquired and distributed soon. Fans eager to see O’Brien’s performance will likely have to wait for an official release.
